The LUUMS committee highly prioritises student wellbeing to ensure a safe and welcoming environment to all of our members. We strive to create an inclusive, friendly and welcoming environment where all members feel valued and respected. This page brings together a range of welfare resources to help our members access support whenever they may need it.

Welfare Resources

Advice and information to help you through challenges of student life such as:

If you are working or studying in the performing arts and have an illness or injury that is impacting your ability to work or study, you may be eligible for support from BAPAM.

A medical practice specifically designed for students. Alongside usual GP services, the student medical practice also has comprehensive mental , sexual and reproductive health support.

MindWell is the mental health website for people in Leeds. Funded by the NHS, it brings together information about local and national services, as well as self-help tools and resources

Support and treatment for gambling-related harms and any co-occurring mental health needs.

A confidential listening and instant messaging service for students across Leeds Universities, open most days during term time 8pm-8am. Although affiliated with LUU as a society, Nightline is run independently by student volunteers.

The UK’s first and only free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging service for anyone who is struggling to cope.

A charity that supports people with mental health problems, campaigns for better services, and raises awareness to combat stigma.


University of Leeds Wellbeing

This LUU page features numerous resources for different circumstances including, keeping connected, staying active and mindfulness.

LUU Advice is a free, confidential and independent service, which you can access in person or online. The trained advisors will talk to you about anything, from housing and exams, to budgeting and relationships.

The Student Counselling and Wellbeing service is a team of professional counsellors, wellbeing practitioners and mental health advisors. They offer free and confidential support to you during your time as a student.

The Harassment and Misconduct Team (Report and Support) has advisors who can offer support and give guidance to students regarding options and next steps after an incident has occurred. Disclosures can be made anonymously, or you can share your details so you can get support directly from an advisor.
