About Percussion Ensemble

LUUMS Percussion Ensemble is a non-auditioned ensemble where people can be introduced to the life of music and percussion performance. Our members include people who have been playing for years and people who just came along for fun but all have a love for percussion, learning music and performing together.

We hope to introduce people to a range of instruments and genres from Latin American to ragtime to classical. Whether you’re a beginner, a musician on another instrument or an experienced percussionist, we’d love to have you and are very excited for the year ahead!

Meet the Percussion Team

Conductor

Luca Paish

Luca has spent most of his time before university either at school or his home, or at the Albemarle music centre in the centre of Hull! There, he played in multiple different musical ensembles, including the orchestra, wind orchestra and percussion ensemble. He has also played in a few amateur adult ensembles for a couple of concerts. He is an aspiring composer and a pianist.

His pride for his percussive ability peaked whilst playing the solo marimba part in Marimba Spiritual by Keiko Abe with a few friends in Birmingham Symphony Hall. He hopes to continue developing his musical knowledge and competence in his final year at the University of Leeds studying Music and English.

Manager

Caoimhe Linighan

Caoimhe was born in Yorkshire and raised in Epsom, Surrey. She especially enjoys the LUUMS concert seasons, as they offer the chance to experience a wide variety of ensembles and celebrate the hard work of those she performs with. Her favourite genre of music is Alternative, and while the drum kit is her instrument of choice, the tambourine and guiro hold a special place in her heart.

She appreciates the diversity and breadth of activities you can do in Leeds. Outside of music, she enjoys cooking, walking, and bartending. A fun fact about her: she has double-jointed thumbs.
