About Chorus
Hi, we’re LUUMS Chorus, LUUMS’ non-auditioned pop choir! Whether you’ve been singing for years or have never sung in a choir before, everyone is welcome to join us.
We rehearse every Monday from 5–7pm in the Clothworkers’ Centenary Concert Hall, singing everything from current pop hits to musical theatre favourites.
Above all, we’re a fun, friendly and welcoming community where everyone can come along, enjoy singing, and meet new people. There’s no pressure and no experience needed — just bring yourself and have a sing!

Meet the Chorus team
Conductors
Daisy Ellis-Thomson
During her time at university, Daisy has sung in LUUMS Symphonic choir, Mikey and the Gs big band, LUU big band and has spent two years as the vocal manager of LUU Jazz and Blues society. Often mistaken as a music student, Daisy enjoys reminding people that she actually studies BSc Psychology with Education. Through both her placement in mental health and delivering music for wellbeing sessions with LUUMIC (Leeds University Music in the Community), she has deepened her understanding of the importance of meaningful group activities, especially those involving music and the creative arts. She plans to make Chorus a warm, welcoming and inclusive place where students can distract themselves from academic stress and make friends!
Izzy Caley
Izzy Caley is a second-year student pursuing a degree in Music and Music Psychology. Her love for music began at the age of six, when she started violin lessons and became an active member of her town’s orchestra. Alongside her instrumental studies, Izzy began vocal training at age seven and quickly developed a strong affinity for musical theatre, earning distinctions up to Grade 7 in vocal performance.
Her singing reflects both technical precision and emotional depth, with a particular love for musical theatre classics. In her free time, Izzy immerses herself in a wide variety of musical theatre pieces, showcasing her dedication beyond formal study. This year, Izzy is excited to be conducting Chorus for LUUMS, choosing engaging repertoire with the choir’s help. She is looking forward to developing her conducting skills and embracing this new challenge. Izzy is also so excited to work with Daisy, bringing both of their styles together for Chorus.
Managers
Mia Wiseman
Mia is a second-year Social Work student from North London. She holds a grade 8 in singing, a passion that began when she became a member of FCMG, her local children’s music group and choir. She continued to attend this choir for 10 years and from there she had many amazing opportunities such as getting to perform at the Royal Festival Hall in London, rehearsing at the Abbey Road studios, and doing a singing project with the BBC.
Since coming to Leeds, Mia has enjoyed contributing to Chorus by regularly attending rehearsals and performing in the concerts. She is honoured to have the privilege to manage this choir in the upcoming year.
In her free time, Mia likes to go hiking and explore the outdoors with her family and friends. She was also a member of the university hiking society during her first year.
Sadie Albon
Sadie is a second-year Music BA student from Essex. She has loved music for as long as she can remember, with singing being her first passion and then taking up piano as well. Her favourite genres to perform are popular music and musical theatre, whilst also enjoying writing her own material.
Before joining LUUMS, Sadie was a member of choirs throughout primary and secondary school, taking part in choir tours to Prague and Spain. She also performed as the lead singer of her school band, growing her love for ensemble and solo performance.
Since joining LUUMS, Sadie has been a member of both Chorus and Symphonic Choir, performing in concerts and singing solos in two Chorus performances. As Chorus Manager, she is excited to welcome new members and help create the same warm, supportive community that made her first year in LUUMS so memorable.
